Welcome back, Potchefstroom! We have officially wrapped up Week 40 of 2026, and what an incredible, action-packed, culturally rich week it has been across our town.
Our "Eyes in the Field" media team and StroomStories digital interview desk were out in full force on the ground. Over the past seven days, the energy in Potchefstroom reached an absolute high-water mark as the annual Momentum Aardklop National Arts Festival took over our streets, school halls, and festival grounds! From mouth-watering dining spots to live acoustic stages, tech innovations, and heartwarming stall features, we captured every single moment.

September 28: Your Favorite Local Hub – Roosmaryn Potchefstroom
We opened our field coverage on Monday at Roosmaryn, one of Potchefstroom’s premier dining and social hotspots. Whether you are looking for a delicious weekday meal, planning a birthday bash, or simply unwinding with a signature cocktail, Roosmaryn remains the place to be.
Open 7 Days a Week: Serving the community from Monday right through to Sunday.
Signature Cocktails: Renowned across town for serving up some of the best mixology in Potch.
End-of-Year Functions: With the final quarter of 2026 officially here, Roosmaryn is urging residents and local businesses to book early for year-end parties and private celebrations.

September 28 – 29: Momentum Aardklop 2026 Officially Opens!
By Monday afternoon, the final festival marquees were going up, and by Tuesday, Momentum Aardklop officially launched across Potchefstroom!
Our media crew headed out to inspect Tent C on opening day, soaking up the electric atmosphere as thousands of culture lovers, theater enthusiasts, and families poured onto the grounds.
September 30: Veervol, Roux Cloete, and Marimba Beats Warm Up the Main Stage
On Wednesday, crisp spring winds swept across the festival grounds, but the performance schedule on the main Terreinverhoog (Terrain Stage) brought plenty of heat:
Veervol: Brought high energy and fiery rhythms to the stage early in the afternoon.
Roux Cloete: Took over the mic at 16:00, gathering crowds with an incredible acoustic set.
Kerkstraat: Kept the crowd singing along into the late afternoon at 17:00.
Marimba Melodika: Delivered live, high-tempo marimba beats that had festival-goers dancing across the open lawns.
October 1: Tech Solutions, Multipurpose Cleaners, and "Twit" Theater Magic
On Thursday, our field team did a full walkthrough of the vendor marquees and theater venues across town:

October 2: Tydloos New Release, Naledi Mohapi, SKEMER, and Joshua na die Reën
Friday brought massive crowds to the festival terrain as the weekend officially kicked off:
Tydloos Feature: We met up with local band Tydloos to chat about their upcoming single dropping on 23 October 2026 across Spotify and streaming platforms!
Stage Highlights: Naledi Mohapi opened the afternoon music block, followed by a powerful set from SKEMER at 15:40.
Headliner Collaboration: At 17:00, Joshua na die Reën took the stage alongside Seuns van Vlug for a sensational collaborative performance that packed out the main stage seating!
October 3: Emergency Demonstrations and Weekend Stage Powerhouses
On Saturday, the festival energy peaked with top-tier musical acts and live field demonstrations:
Vam Fam Band: Delivered a soulful live performance on the terrain, celebrating local music roots.
ER24 Live ICU & CPR Demonstration: The paramedic team at ER24 gave festival-goers a live, step-by-step demonstration of intensive care setups and CPR procedures, educating the public on life-saving emergency protocols.
Main Stage Lineup: Armand Hofmeyr kicked off the afternoon party, followed by Lisie Basson at 15:40, and a smooth evening performance by Jacob Swann at 17:00!

StroomStories: Live Conversations Direct from Aardklop
Throughout Week 40, our StroomStories feature desk moved directly into the heart of the festival, conducting live, on-site interviews with exhibitors, community organizations, festival managers, and radio legends!
Fire and Spice Spices (Tent E): We stopped by Tent E to sample the ultimate artisanal spice blends and rubs for braais, potjies, and home cooking.
Abraham Kriel Kinderhuis: We sat down with the team at the Abraham Kriel stall to highlight their ongoing community work and support their festival fundraising drive.
Festival-Goer Insights: We caught up with everyday attendees on the walkways to hear what makes Aardklop such a special, inclusive family experience.
