Potchefstroom Secondary School Promotes Mr Nakedi and Mrs Jacobs to Departmental Head

Potchefstroom Secondary School has two new departmental heads. The Mohadin school posted a congratulatory notice on Facebook announcing the promotions of Mr D Nakedi and Mrs N Jacobs, calling both appointments well deserved. Congratulations from the school community began arriving under the post within the hour.

Two promotions announced together

The school shared a two-panel graphic in its blue and gold, with a portrait of each new departmental head and a line congratulating them on their promotion. Both appointments were announced in the same post.

The school did not give further detail about which departments the two will head or when they take up the posts.

What a departmental head does

Departmental heads, previously known as heads of department, sit between subject teachers and the school management team. They are responsible for the teaching, assessment standards and curriculum coverage within their subject area, and they usually carry a full teaching load alongside that.

For a school, filling these posts matters most in the run-up to the final term and the matric examinations.
