Potchefstroom Industrial Interchange Closes From 13 October for Ikageng Corridor Upgrade
The Potchefstroom Industrial Interchange, including its bridge and ramps, will be closed to traffic in both directions from Tuesday 13 October to Friday 27 November 2026 for milling and resurfacing works on the Ikageng Corridor Project.

The closure is the start of the resurfacing phase of the Ikageng Corridor Project upgrade, one of the main road links between Ikageng, Potchindustria and town. The contractor will mill and resurface the route section by section over about seven weeks.

Where traffic will go

While the interchange is closed, traffic will be diverted along Luitingh Street in both directions, with a speed limit of 30 km/h.

Closure period

The order of the work

The work starts on the N12 (Nelson Mandela Drive) and Potchindustria sections. Once the N12 section is finished, the contractor will move on in sequence to:

The municipality says milling will only move to the next street once the previous section has been fully completed and approved. Traffic management measures and signage will be in place throughout.

What this means for you

If you normally use the Industrial Interchange, plan to use Luitingh Street instead and allow extra time, keeping to the 30 km/h limit. As the work moves on to Wolmarans Street, Ikageng Road, Zinn Street and Lekhele Street, expect disruptions on those roads too, and follow all traffic instructions on site.
