Potch Dorp Rugbyklub Announces Temporary Closure of Main Playing Field for Maintenance

The closure, issued by the order of the club’s management, is effective from October 14, 2026, and will remain in place until further notice.

The closure applies to all members, players, supporters, and general visitors, strictly prohibiting recreational and general use of the pitch during this timeframe. According to the official notice, essential field maintenance work is required to enhance the condition and overall safety of the playing surface. The scheduled maintenance operations include:

• Chemical Weed Treatment: Application of specialized herbicides to eliminate weeds across the pitch.

• Fertilizer Spreading: Distribution of fertilizer to encourage healthy, robust grass growth.

• Grass Recovery and Establishment: Allowing time for new grass growth to establish and recover to ensure a high-quality surface for future matches.

Club management emphasized that the complete restriction of access is necessary to protect the health and safety of field users from chemical treatments, ensure the effectiveness of the applications, and allow the new turf sufficient time to establish properly.

The club will issue a follow-up notice once the field has been fully restored and deemed safe for public and athletic use. Management expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their patience, understanding, and cooperation as these critical facility improvements are carried out.
