Paws Haven at Aardklop 2026: Community Support Exceeds Expectations

Invited by festival organizers to host an official stall, the Paws Haven team set up an engaging, interactive space aimed at raising awareness and essential funds for the hundreds of animals in their care.

Throughout the five-day event, visitors stopped by the Paws Haven stall to chat with volunteers, learn about animals available for adoption, and participate in a variety of fun fundraising activities.

The shelter's setup featured several popular attractions:

• The Kissing Booth & Photo Booth: Festival-goers captured memorable photos while donating to a great cause.

• Pop a Balloon & Hamper Raffles: Interactive games offered visitors the chance to win prizes while contributing directly to shelter operations.

• Mascot Appearances: Inflatable dog and cat mascots brought smiles to children and families across the festival grounds.

• Kennel Sponsorship Drive: Supporters had the opportunity to sponsor shelter kennels directly at the stall, receiving official certificates of appreciation.

Overcoming the Target: R32,684 Raised in 5 Days

Paws Haven initially set an ambitious 5-day fundraising goal of R20,000.00 to help cover mounting food, veterinary, and facility costs. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of festival visitors, donors, and volunteers, the organization exceeded its expectations.

On the final day alone, the shelter collected R11,528.10, bringing the grand total to R32,684.00, surpassing the target by over R12,000. In addition to monetary contributions, the shelter received significant physical donations of goods and supplies throughout the festival.

Making a Lasting Impact

As a non-profit organization entirely dependent on community support, Paws Haven noted that events like Aardklop are vital to their survival. Every rand raised during the festival goes directly toward providing food, medical care, shelter, and love to the lost, abandoned, and neglected animals entering their gates.
