Little Oaks Carnival: Potchefstroom Central School's Grade R Learners Take to the Runway
Potchefstroom Central School has celebrated its youngest learners with a Grade R fashion show themed as the Little Oaks Carnival. The school described the event as “filled with colour, confidence and carnival magic”, giving the Grade R classes a chance to shine in front of their families.
Three classes on the runway
The Elephant, Owl and Busy Bee classes each took their turn on the runway. According to the school, performances during the evening added “even more sparkle”, and a grand finale rounded off the show.
“The grand finale was a joyful way to celebrate our little stars!” the school wrote.
A team effort behind the scenes
The school thanked Coach Lockey, its teachers, everyone who helped behind the scenes and the families who came out to support the event. Above all, it congratulated the Grade R learners themselves: “You were amazing!”

Building confidence early
For learners in their first year of formal schooling, walking a runway and performing in front of an audience is a big step. Events like this give young children a chance to build confidence and enjoy being part of a school occasion with their classmates and families.
What this means for you
Grade R parents can look back on the photos the school has shared on its Facebook page. Families with children starting Grade R next year can expect the school to keep marking milestones like this as part of the Foundation Phase experience.
