- End: Thursday 12 November 2026
Alternative routes
The municipality has advised motorists to use the following streets to reach their destinations:
- Hoffman Street
- Molen Street
- Rissik Street
- Borcherd Street
Why the closure is needed
The municipality says the closure is needed for the safe and efficient completion of the paving and road improvement works, and for the safety of road users and construction personnel. It has apologised for the inconvenience and asked the public to co-operate with the relevant authorities during the construction period.
What this means for you
If you normally drive through the Esselen and Steve Biko junction, plan your route ahead of time and allow a few extra minutes, especially during the morning and afternoon rush. Follow the temporary traffic signs and take care when driving near the work site.
