Fifth in South Africa: Ferdinand Postma High School's Elrise Pretorius Shines in National Writing Competition
The national competition is run by Netwerk24 together with its school education platforms e-Beeldskool and Die Burgerskool, and draws entries from learners across South Africa. A top-five finish in the Afrikaans Home Language essay category puts Elrise among the strongest young Afrikaans writers in the country this year.
A national result for Ferdies' academic side
Ferdinand Postma High School, known as Ferdies, shared the news under its academic banner, celebrating the result as a national achievement for the school. The school said it was extremely proud of Elrise and congratulated her on what it called a special accomplishment.
The school also wished her well for the future, saying it hoped her creativity and love of writing would take her far.
Part of a strong term for Ferdies learners
The result adds to a busy few weeks of national-level achievements for Ferdies learners. In September the school also had two learners in the national final of the AfriSkuld spelling competition in Pretoria, and a team of archers representing North West at the South African championships in Jeffreys Bay.
