Ferdinand Postma High School Athletes Sprint to Two Wins and 12 Personal Bests
Ferdinand Postma High School in Potchefstroom has shared a proud round-up of its athletes' performance at a recent athletics meeting. The school said its team represented the blue and white with pride, and the results show a squad that improved across the board rather than relying on one or two stars.
Sprinters lead the way
The 100 m brought the biggest moments of the day for Ferdies. Thabiso Modise and Tirelo Mgqamqo each won their respective 100 m races, while Roland Lubinda added a third place in his 100 m race.
In the field events, Lethabo Makwatsane finished third in the long jump.
Personal bests across the team
Perhaps the most encouraging number for the school is not a medal count at all: 12 learners improved on their personal bests at the meeting. For coaches, a tally like that is a clear sign that the season's training is paying off.
Overall, Ferdies finished 28th out of the 48 schools that took part.
- 1st place, 100 m: Thabiso Modise
- 1st place, 100 m: Tirelo Mgqamqo
- 3rd place, 100 m: Roland Lubinda
- 3rd place, long jump: Lethabo Makwatsane
- Personal bests: 12 learners
- Overall: 28th out of 48 schools
A word for the coaches
The school congratulated every athlete and coach on the achievements, saying it was proud of the team's hard work, determination and team spirit.
