Water Supply Interruption in Stilfontein
The interruption, which began on Thursday, 29 October 2026, is expected to cause reduced water pressure or complete outages across several residential zones throughout the day while emergency technical repairs take place.
Incident Cause and Technical Response
According to an official municipal release, the interruption stems from significant leaks detected on a primary pump line running along Jan van Riebeeck Street. The damage has compromised the system’s capacity to pump water effectively to the local pressure tower, leading to system-wide distribution issues.
Municipal maintenance crews have been deployed to the site and have initiated excavation work to uncover and replace the compromised pipeline sections. Officials estimate that repair operations will be completed by 16:00 on Thursday, 29 October 2026, after which normal pumping operations to the tower are slated to resume.
Affected Streets and Boundaries
The localized outage impacts properties falling within the following perimeter:
Somerset Street
Jan van Riebeeck Street
Burgers Street
Wintervogel Street
Neethling Street
All streets situated within these designated boundaries are subject to low water pressure or total water loss until the replacement of the damaged line is finalized.
