Twelfth in the Country: Laerskool La Hoff Cyclist Louwan Steyn Impresses at SA Championships

Laerskool La Hoff in Klerksdorp has shared the result of one of its cyclists at this year's national championships. Louwan Steyn spent part of the September holidays racing in Stellenbosch against some of the best young cyclists in the country, and finished in the top 12.

Racing against the country's best

The SA Cycling Championships bring together the strongest young riders from across South Africa. The school says Louwan raced against some of the best young cyclists in the country, which makes his result all the more impressive.

A top-12 finish

Louwan finished 12th in the country, a result the school called fantastic.

• Event: SA Cycling Championships
• Venue: Stellenbosch
• When: September 2026 school holidays
• Result: 12th in South Africa

"Ons is ongelooflik trots op jou, Louwan!" (We are incredibly proud of you, Louwan!), the school wrote.

A busy holiday for Hoffie sport

Louwan was not the only Hoffie in action over the break. In a separate post the school said it was well represented in the under-11A and under-12A and B KOSH cricket teams, which played in Brits and Klerksdorp during the holidays.

What this means for you

Louwan's result shows that Klerksdorp's young cyclists can hold their own at national level. Families who want to support him can congratulate him on the La Hoff Facebook page, and learners keen on cycling can ask the school how to get involved.
