Matlosana Debt Relief Programme Offers 50% Off Old Municipal Debt Until 30 November
The City of Matlosana's "Rathusa / Welcome to Help" debt relief incentive programme runs from 1 June 2026 to 30 November 2026. With two months left, residents and businesses with old municipal debt still have time to apply.
Who qualifies
According to the municipality, households and businesses can receive a 50% discount on outstanding accounts that are 90 days or older, including handed-over accounts, if they pay 50% of the capital amount as a once-off payment and keep their current account and 30-day account paid in full.
Regular paying consumers with arrears can have 50% of their arranged arrears amount written off if they have paid their account for six consecutive months and are fully up to date with their payments. The municipality says its system will automatically calculate the qualifying amount.
What is excluded
- Property rates are not included in the programme
- Government properties are excluded
- School properties are excluded
What this means for you
If you have old arrears on your municipal account, apply at your nearest municipal office or customer care centre before 30 November 2026. Remember that rates arrears will not be reduced, so budget for those separately.
