Laerskool Unie Waves Off Two Teachers Promoted to Departmental Head and Deputy Principal
Laerskool Unie is losing two teachers to promotion. The Klerksdorp primary school published a farewell and congratulations post on Facebook confirming that Mrs Pretorius and Mr Tlale are leaving to begin what it called an exciting new chapter in their careers. Both are moving into senior posts.
Two promotions out of one staffroom
The school congratulated Mrs Pretorius on her new post as Departmental Head and Mr Tlale on his new post as Deputy Principal. It said that although it is sad to see them leave Laerskool Unie, it is incredibly proud of both of them and of the opportunities ahead.
Departmental heads take responsibility for teaching standards and curriculum coverage in a subject area, while a deputy principal sits in the school management team alongside the principal.
A lasting impact
In its message the school said their dedication, hard work, kindness and commitment to the school community had made a lasting impact, and that both would certainly be missed.
It wished them growth, fulfilment and many achievements in their new positions, adding that it has no doubt they will continue to make a difference wherever their journey takes them.
Once part of the Unie family
The post closed by thanking the two for everything they contributed to Laerskool Unie, with the school's own line that once you are part of the Unie family, you remain part of the Unie family.
What this means for you
Parents whose children were in these teachers' classes can expect staffing changes when the fourth term starts. The school office is the place to ask who will take over those classes and subjects.
Laerskool Unie, founded in 1928, offers dual medium teaching in Grades 5 to 7 and English in Grades RR to 4, and posts its staff announcements on its Facebook page.
