KHS Players Power Changan Willehonde to Club Title at the Klerksdorp 7s
The school celebrated the win in its Facebook group after the tournament, highlighting how many of its own players, coaches and parents were part of the triumph. The team played in the club division, but the core of the squad came straight from KHS rugby.
A squad with a strong KHS flavour
Among the KHS learners in the winning group were Mmuse Senekane, Tiaan Koen, Lebo Wageng, JJ Mienie, Asif Sumara, Luan von Wielligh, Ewald Fourie, Janu de Wet, Leonard Bevan and Jarred van Staden.
The Changan Willehonde side beat the Northam Rhinos in the final to take the club division title.
School coaches and parents behind the team
The KHS connection ran beyond the players. Piet von Wielligh and Pep Koen, who coach the school's first team and u/16A side, were involved with the team, assisted by Johan van Schoor.
Several KHS parents helped with team management, and biokineticist Monique van Niekerk supported the players. The school noted that three players had to withdraw before the tournament because of injury.
