Infrastructure Milestone: JB Marks Municipality Completes Promosa Road Paving
In a major step forward for local transport and community development, the JB Marks Local Municipality has officially concluded the paving works along Promosa Road.
The project forms part of the municipality’s targeted capital expenditure plan aimed at upgrading township road networks, improving stormwater management, and ensuring safer transit for both motorists and pedestrians.
Enhancing Connectivity and Daily Commutes
Promosa Road serves as a key transit artery within the Promosa and greater Potchefstroom area, connecting residents to workplaces, local schools, and healthcare facilities. Prior to the upgrade, sections of the road were prone to wear and weather-induced degradation, often complicating travel during heavy summer rains.
With the installation of durable paving and reinforced surfaces, the completed project delivers several immediate benefits:
Smoother Traffic Flow: Reduced vehicle wear-and-tear and faster response times for emergency services and public transport operators.
Pedestrian Safety: Improved road verges and clearly defined boundaries to protect walking commuters and schoolchildren.
Weather Resilience: Interlocking paving blocks designed to handle local soil conditions and resist water damage during downpours.
Commitment to Sustainable Service Delivery
Municipal leadership highlighted that the completion of the Promosa Road project represents more than routine road maintenance—it is a tangible reflection of the council’s broader mandate to restore dignity and accelerate service delivery across all wards.
"The completion of this project reflects the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development and improved service delivery."

Beyond the physical surface, road upgrades of this nature frequently generate local subcontracting opportunities and temporary job creation through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) framework, injecting direct economic activity into the neighborhood.
Looking Ahead
With Promosa Road now fully reopened and operational, the municipality plans to continue rolling out phased road resurfacing, pothole repairs, and paving projects across Ikageng, Promosa, Ventersdorp, and surrounding settlements. Residents are urged to take pride in the new infrastructure, report illegal dumping along road reserves, and observe posted speed limits to ensure the long-term safety and longevity of the newly paved corridor.
