Merafong City Local Municipality has issued an official public notice informing residents of an upcoming temporary power outage affecting multiple towns within its jurisdiction.
The planned power supply interruption is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 18 October 2026, between 08:00 and 16:00, lasting for an estimated duration of 8 hours.
The affected localities include Fochville, Kokosi, and Greenspark. According to the municipality, the shutdown is required to allow national power utility Eskom to execute essential scheduled maintenance and infrastructure upgrades on the regional electricity network. These planned maintenance activities are intended to enhance operational safety, support grid stability, and ensure the long-term reliability of local power delivery systems.

Municipal officials have advised all residents and businesses within the affected communities to treat all electrical installations and appliances as live for the full duration of the interruption. Power could be restored at any time during the designated timeframe without prior notice as technicians complete the necessary work on the network. The local administration, led by Municipal Manager Dumisani D. Mabuza, expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to the public during this required service period.
