Merafong Opens New Blyvoor Library for Learners and Residents
Blyvoor now has its own public library. Merafong City Local Municipality describes the opening as an important milestone in promoting education, literacy and lifelong learning in the community, which lies just outside Carletonville.
What the library offers
According to the municipality, the library will give residents, particularly learners and young people, access to information and educational resources, as well as a space that supports reading, research and personal development.
Who attended the opening
The official opening on Friday 23 October 2026 was led by Executive Mayor Cllr Nozuko Best. The municipality says the event brought together municipal leadership, stakeholders, educators, learners and community members to celebrate what it calls an important investment in knowledge and education.
The municipality said it "remains committed to creating opportunities that empower communities and contribute to a brighter future through access to educational resources and information."
The post did not include the library's opening hours or exact address.
