Both the Springbok Women’s Sevens and the Blitzboks have touched down in Europe with distinct missions: the men aim to consolidate their lead at the top of the standings, while the women look to capitalize on a more settled preparation period to climb the global rankings. With fresh faces and returning stalwarts in the mix, the South African contingent remains the focal point of the tournament's narrative.
Springbok Women’s Sevens: Stability Breeds Confidence
After a challenging 12th-place finish in Hong Kong, marred by a late rash of injuries, Head Coach Cecil Afrika has expressed a far more optimistic outlook for the Spanish leg. Unlike the frantic reshuffling required last month, the squad has enjoyed a month of cohesive training.
The squad sees the introduction of Patience Mokone and the return of Vianca Boer. While both are uncapped at the top tier of the SVNS Series, Afrika is banking on their recent form in the Challenger Series to translate into points.
