Paws Haven Launches Campaign to Build a Life-Saving Veterinary Theatre

Every day, injured, abandoned, and neglected animals arrive at Paws Haven in desperate need of urgent medical treatment. While the shelter’s dedicated veterinary team works around the clock to save lives, they are currently operating with limited resources, sometimes even relying on privately owned equipment just to perform critical procedures.

To bridge this gap, Paws Haven has officially launched a fundraising campaign to build and equip a state-of-the-art Veterinary Theatre. This facility will enable faster, safer, and more advanced treatment for hundreds of animals passing through their doors every year.

The Immediate Priorities: What Paws Haven Needs

Rather than waiting until the entire target amount is raised, Paws Haven is purchasing equipment in phases as donations come in. Their highest-priority needs include:

• Dental Equipment (R5,000)

  • Current Situation: The shelter's veterinarian is generously allowing the clinic to use his personal dental equipment.

  • The Goal: Reimburse the vet so he doesn't carry this financial burden while serving shelter animals.

• Oxygen System & Anaesthetic Machine

  • The Goal: Modern oxygen and anaesthetic gear significantly increase surgical safety, ensuring patients are properly supported and monitored while reducing stress during complex procedures.

• Orthopedic Surgical Equipment

  • The Goal: With multiple animals arriving weekly after motor vehicle accidents or severe fractures, having proper orthopedic tools will allow the team to repair broken bones on-site, giving animals a second chance at life without costly delays.

• Diagnostic Ultrasound Machine

  • The Goal: An ultrasound allows non-invasive abdominal scans without X-ray exposure, helping vets quickly diagnose internal bleeding, organ damage, fluid build-up, and pregnancies for faster decision-making.
