Provincial and Local Leadership Inspect Progress on JB Marks Water and Sanitation Infrastructure
The joint leadership exercise was designed to evaluate physical execution on the ground, identify implementation bottlenecks, and maintain public accountability in the delivery of essential municipal services.

The intervention commenced with a technical briefing chaired by MEC Molapisi, where municipal officials presented detailed status reports for each targeted project. The briefing focused on essential project metrics, including physical completion rates, budget expenditure, local subcontracting participation, job creation outcomes, and identified operational challenges alongside planned corrective interventions. Following the data review, the leadership delegation inspected four primary infrastructure projects across the region:
Ikageng Extension 6 Sewer Reticulation and Top Structures Project: Construction and connection of fundamental sanitation infrastructure for local housing developments.
Ikageng Extension 6 Water Network Project: Expansion of reticulation systems to ensure reliable household access to clean potable water.
Desludging of Sludge Lagoons: Critical operational maintenance aimed at restoring design capacity to local waste management facilities.
Potchefstroom Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrade: Structural and system updates to enhance overall processing capacity and environmental compliance for the broader municipal area.

During the field inspections, provincial and local leaders assessed readiness toward estimated completion dates while reviewing real-time physical progress across the various project phases. The delegation acknowledged positive performance metrics across the sites while utilizing the visit to address emerging technical difficulties with project teams. By establishing on-site oversight mechanisms, COGHSTA and municipal management seek to enhance transparency, streamline contractor workflows, and address lingering infrastructure deficits.

The collaborative monitoring process underscores ongoing intergovernmental efforts to finalize critical utility projects within the JB Marks Local Municipality. Moving forward, continued progress reporting and technical support will remain central to ensuring these MIG-funded projects meet regulatory standards and fulfill service delivery requirements for local residents.
