Service Operations, Infrastructure Maintenance, and Community Initiatives in the City of Matlosana
The City of Matlosana Local Municipality has recently undertaken a series of administrative, maintenance, and law enforcement activities across its jurisdiction.

Through localized outreach, infrastructure repairs, joint enforcement operations, emergency power restorations, and upcoming civic engagements, the local municipality continues to manage public service delivery and regional administration across its various wards.

Outreach Initiative Expands Access to Financial Services in Jouberton

On Friday, 04 September 2026, the Finance Department of the City of Matlosana Local Municipality executed a Community Outreach Programme aimed at improving access to administrative services for residents of Jouberton. Operating from a temporary customer care service point at the Tsholofela Clinic between 09:00 and 13:00, municipal officials processed Indigent Support Applications, handled Payment Arrangement Applications, and accepted direct Municipal Account Payments. The initiative was designed to allow community members to handle account governance and social support requests directly within their locality.

Road and Utilities Infrastructure Maintenance Conducted Across Multiple Towns

The Directorate of Technical & Infrastructure, through its Road Section, carried out a series of roadwork projects and utility repairs across several towns within the municipality during the first week of September 2026. The scope of work included resealing and patching potholes along Breede and Buffalo Streets in Stilfontein, Flecker Street in Orkney, Fabric Street, Dawkinsville in Klerksdorp, and at the intersection of 12th Street and Phelandaba Drive in Jouberton. In Klerksdorp, workers conducted pothole preparations along Anderson Street and replaced paving at the corner of Boom and Anderson Streets. Additional infrastructure interventions included repairing a water pipe burst at the corner of Latham and Elm Streets in Klerksdorp, alongside cleaning and replacing stormwater slabs at Enoch Sontonga Street in Klerksdorp and at the intersection of Vuyisile Majova Road and Mokgethi Street in Khuma. Members of the public were advised to exercise caution around active work sites.

Multi-Stakeholder Enforcement Operation Targets Non-Compliance in Stilfontein CBD

A joint law enforcement operation was conducted in the Stilfontein Central Business District on Friday, 04 September 2026, targeting municipal by-law violations, environmental health risks, and unpermitted commercial operations. The operation brought together the City of Matlosana, the South African Police Service (SAPS), Environmental Health practitioners from the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, and various municipal units. Key actions taken included:

Emergency Technical Teams Address Weather-Induced Power Outage

Severe weather conditions on 04 September 2026 resulted in an interruption of the electricity supply affecting both Jouberton and Alabama. Strong winds caused an Eskom pylon pole to collapse and flattened several localized electricity lines in Jouberton. Municipal electrical crews and Eskom technical personnel were deployed to the site to clear damaged infrastructure and carry out necessary repairs to restore the power supply to affected households.

These ongoing operations, municipal interventions, and public events reflect the operational scope and civic engagements managed by the local government across the City of Matlosana.
