Rescues Currently Available for Adoption
Several dogs of various ages and backgrounds are currently available for adoption:
The Five Stooges: Five small mixed-breed male puppies (Moe, Joe, Curly, Larry, and Shemp) born on July 17, 2026.
Beetroot: A petite female Foxi mix born on June 19, 2026. Following medical treatment and foster care at Mooirivier Dierekliniek, she is now ready for adoption. Interested parties can view her at the clinic before completing application paperwork at Paws Haven.
Lettie: A female mixed-breed puppy born on May 11, 2026, following an emergency C-section performed after her pregnant mother was rescued.
Groomed Bonded Pair: A male and female pair who recently received grooming care from Tannie Martie at Potch Diere Spa. Both are sterilized and must be adopted together as a pair.
Standard adoption fees are R900 per animal, which includes initial vaccinations, deworming, rabies vaccination, microchipping, and sterilization when age-appropriate. Standard screening and home checks apply.
At press time, it remains unconfirmed whether any of these featured animals have already been placed in homes.
Recent Adoptions
The facility recently celebrated several successful adoptions, freeing up kennel capacity for incoming rescues. Animals recently rehomed with local families include Lilly, Ziggy, Oscar, Charlie, Biscuit, Chief, Chery, Mozart, Kate, Stella, and Milla.
Urgent Appeals & Other News
Urgent Senior Foster Request: A quiet foster home is needed for an elderly male dog with severe arthritis and only one tooth. A home with minimal stairs, non-slip flooring, and supportive bedding is requested to assist his mobility needs.
Puppy Camp Construction Appeal: Paws Haven has issued an urgent request for R32,000 to purchase ClearVu materials for a dedicated puppy camp. Two puppies were recently injured due to unsafe temporary palisade fencing, and over 50 puppies currently in foster care require proper facility housing. The total cost excludes labor and two required gates.
Volunteer Support: The shelter is seeking daily volunteers between 10:00 and 14:00 to assist with handling and processing animal bedding and laundry.
Wildlife Support: In addition to dog and cat care, shelter staff recently assisted with temporary wildlife cases alongside qualified wildlife rehabilitators and rescuers.
Community involvement through adoption, fostering, volunteering, and facility contributions supports these ongoing care efforts.
