Executive Mayor Hands Over New Service Delivery Fleet

On Thursday, 06 August 2026, the Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana, Cllr Fikile Mahlophe, officially handed over a new service delivery fleet to municipal technical teams. Municipal officials processed Indigent Support Applications, assisted account holders with Payment Arrangement Applications for debt management, and accepted direct municipal account payments. Residents attending the session were required to provide their South African identity documents, current municipal account statements, and verified proof of income.

Collaborative Clean-Up Restores Historic Klerksdorp Old Cemetery

On Friday, 07 August 2026, a joint heritage conservation campaign was carried out at the historic Old Cemetery in Klerksdorp. The initiative brought together the Klerksdorp Museums and Heritage Section, the municipal Cemeteries Section, and learners from the Theorem House Homeschool Learning Centre.

Representatives from the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) and the Department of Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) visited community radio station Star FM on Friday, 07 August 2026, to affirm support for local independent media.

As part of the visit, officials unveiled a newly refurbished broadcasting studio to bolster production capabilities and presented the station with an official recognition plaque highlighting its history of multilingual broadcasting across the municipality.

New School Library Launched at Diphetogo Public School

The City of Matlosana Library Services partnered with Diphetogo Public School in Klerksdorp to officially launch a new school library on Friday, 07 August 2026. The opening was held alongside the "Bakgotsi Dumelang Cleaning Campaign & Library Launch" under the theme "Clean today, brighter tomorrow."

The launch event was spearheaded by Miss Letlhogonolo Innocentia Tshipunyane of the municipal Library Services section. The broader program received support from multiple civic partners, including Nal'ibali, the Community Police Forum, Monna Sechabeng Men's Empowerment Forum, Unified Community Developers, Leano La Bophelo, Musketeers, Moalusi Creations, and IShall.

Human Settlements Team Distributes Title Deeds in Alabama

On Thursday, 13 August 2026, the Directorate of Human Settlements carried out a door-to-door title deed delivery campaign in Alabama (Ward 04, Extension 04) between 09:30 and 15:30. The field drive was led by the MMC for Planning and Human Settlements, Cllr Portia Mtshawulana, alongside Ward 04 Councillor SOC Barrends.

The outreach formed part of the municipality’s ongoing Title Deeds Restoration Programme, which targets registering and delivering 6,003 legal land title deeds to verified household beneficiaries between 2025 and 2027.
