Classic and Modern Rides Highlight the 2026 Potchefstroom Motorcycle Expo
The third annual Potchefstroom Motorcycle Expo took place on 16 June 2026, drawing motorcycle enthusiasts, collectors, and community members to 86 Chris Hani Street. Pieter from The Go-To Guy visited the venue to capture the highlights of the day’s proceedings.
The single-day event provided a platform for both private collectors and commercial dealers to showcase a wide variety of motorcycles. According to organizers, the primary objective of the expo is to bridge the gap between different eras of motorcycling, offering the public a view of models ranging from early historical builds to the latest entries on the market. In previous installments, the event has featured up to 109 local motorcycles, including machines with histories dating back as far as 90 years.

The indoor exhibition hall hosted a diverse range of classic and specialized bikes. Prominent displays inside the brick-walled venue included:
Vintage and Custom Cruisers: A classic maroon BMW motorcycle featuring a retro "R ten T" look and a distinctive checkerboard tank design stood alongside a classic dark red Norton. A blue and silver Harley-Davidson cruiser was also on display nearby.
Sport and Performance Models: The showroom featured a black Triumph Thruxton 900 cafe racer alongside several modern sportbikes.
Specialized Exhibits: A highly customized Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa in metallic grey with chrome finishes occupied a dedicated display mat near the entrance. Next to it, a sportbike featured a vibrant, custom iridescent purple and teal vinyl wrap themed entirely around the animated character Stitch, complete with matching plush toys, a themed backdrop, and a custom helmet.
Daily Commuters and Scooters: Highlighting the sheer variety of everyday road vehicles, the indoor lineup also included multi-era commuter options, such as vintage Vespa-style scooters, classic step-through mopeds, and a modern white Peugeot scooter.
Adventure Bikes: A blue Suzuki V-Strom adventure tourer equipped with a rear top-box was showcased, highlighting the diversity of long-distance models available to view.

Beyond the vehicles, the event featured an active market area. Multiple outdoor stalls were set up on the grounds, including:

Toy and Novelty Stalls: Showcasing various children's toys and collectibles under gazebos.
Food and Beverage: Multiple food stalls and a cash bar were available to visitors throughout the day.

Situated an ideal distance from the Rand area for a morning drive, the expo drew a steady crowd of local and traveling visitors. Admission for the public was set at R30 per person, while arriving motorcyclists were granted free entry and secure parking inside the venue grounds. The event concluded at 16:00, marking another successful gathering for the regional motorcycling community.
