Potch let's help: Elizna Pretorius’s Inspiring Miss Earth South Africa Journey
True leadership is born the moment someone chooses purpose over fear. For Elizna Pretorius, a Miss Earth South Africa 2026 semi-finalist from Potchefstroom, this year has marked a defining turning point. Refusing to let self-doubt, timing, or excuses stand in the way, Elizna embraced a mindset centered on faith, personal growth, and courage. Approaching Miss Earth’s 26-year age limit, she chose to enter the leadership programme with complete commitment, viewing the platform not merely as a pageant, but as a catalyst to educate, inspire, and drive real environmental change.
Miss Earth South Africa empowers young women to become environmental leaders through hands-on community service and sustainability.

A Journey Shaped by Faith, Roots, and Diversified Expertise
Elizna’s path to advocacy is grounded in a rich tapestry of South African experiences. Born in Vanderbijlpark, she grew up appreciating nature and wildlife in Richards Bay before moving through Burgersfort, Limpopo, and attending high school in Lydenburg and Potchefstroom. Having spent childhood school holidays on a family farm near Potchefstroom, she permanently settled in the North West city in 2017. Living across different towns opened her eyes to how environmental challenges vary from region to region, while reinforcing how powerful united communities can be when solving local issues.
Guided strongly by her faith, Elizna initially completed studies in Systems Development, spending two years in workshop administration overseeing logistics, stock control, deliveries, and bookkeeping. Today, she serves as a Senior Recruitment Host at Nova Life, applying her analytical and data-management skills across branches in Potchefstroom, Stellenbosch, and Roodepoort.
Driven to combine her logical problem-solving abilities with communication and strategy, she transitioned to studying BCom Marketing Management at Eduvos, where she also serves as an Eduvos Online Wellness Ambassador. This unique combination of technical background, marketing acumen, administrative discipline, and daily human connection equips her with the exact operational foundation required to run high-impact corporate and community outreach projects.
Practical Advocacy: The Gap Map Initiative
Her environmental commitment was sparked long before pageantry through Landsdiens, an organization she has actively served since 2007, where she developed a deep stewardship for nature and community responsibility. Today, as a Miss Earth South Africa semi-finalist, Elizna’s central project is The Gap Map.
The Gap Map is built on a straightforward principle: sustainability isn’t about being perfect, it’s about recognizing the gaps in our communities and finding practical ways to bridge them. Elizna notes that while society encourages eco-friendly habits, many communities lack basic access to local recycling infrastructure, tools, and practical education. The Gap Map bridges these exact gaps by connecting people, schools, and neighborhoods with the right resources, training, and organizations.
"Leadership means inspiring action through authenticity, compassion, and service. Real change doesn’t happen because a few people do sustainability perfectly; it happens when many people choose to do something, no matter how small."
Elizna's hands-on commitment is already visible through localized community work:
Restoring Dignity: Volunteered with Love Potch to distribute school shoes made entirely from recycled medical drip bags, demonstrating how waste reduction directly uplifts children and restores dignity.
Soweto Community Outreach: Partnered with Merchants of Light in Pimville, Soweto, packing food parcels and preparing meals for local families.
Growing a Living Legacy: Organizing a major tree-planting drive on August 24th to leave behind a green, sustainable legacy for future generations.

Powering the Vision: A Call for Strategic Sponsorships
Creating long-term, scalable impact requires aligned corporate and community partners. As part of the Miss Earth South Africa leadership programme, Elizna is required to secure R16,500 (excluding VAT) in official sponsorship funding by 24 August 2026 to extend the operational reach of The Gap Map and advance through the national competition. For full financial transparency and corporate governance, all sponsorship contributions are paid directly to the official Miss Earth South Africa organisation.
Partnering with Elizna offers businesses, eco-conscious brands, and local enterprise sponsors a compelling return on investment:
Brand Visibility & Authenticity: Alignment with a grounded, articulate ambassador who actively creates educational content, utilizes strategic marketing, and advocates across digital platforms and live community events.
Tangible CSR & ESG Impact: Direct sponsorship support powers localized, measurable green initiatives, such as tree-planting projects, community recycling access drives, and educational workshops.
National Reach with Local Roots: Influence spanning key South African hubs including Potchefstroom, Stellenbosch, Roodepoort, and greater Gauteng.
By backing Elizna Pretorius ahead of the 24 August deadline, corporate sponsors invest not only in a Miss Earth South Africa semi-finalist, but in a structured, measurable movement that turns environmental awareness into ground-level results.
