Paws Haven Celebrates First Birthday with a Splash of Colour
Paws Haven is marking its very first anniversary with a Birthday Colour Run on Saturday, 25 July 2026. The event, scheduled to start at 10h00, aims to raise essential funds to sustain the animal shelter and ensure the ongoing care of its rescues.
Participants can choose between a 3km and a 6km route. Entry fees are set at R50 for adults and R30 for children, with individual colour powder packets available for R10 each. In a unique initiative for the day, attendees who wish to run alongside a shelter dog can do so by bringing along a leash to donate to the haven after the race.
Community Support and Donations Needed
Organisers are currently sourcing supplies for the various food stalls planned for the day. The shelter will be selling cheese wors rolls, pancakes, baked goods, and refreshments, with all proceeds directly benefiting the facility.
Donations of the following items are being requested to help stock the stalls:
Refreshments: Cooldrinks and bottled water.
Food supplies: Hot dog buns, onions, eggs, sauces, condiments, pancake mix, flour, sugar, and cinnamon.
Baked goods: Cupcakes, biscuits, and sweets.
Hot beverage stations: Coffee sachets, hot chocolate, tea, milk, and sugar.
Sponsorship and Volunteering Opportunities
Local businesses and individuals have several opportunities to assist with the event logistics. Paws Haven is looking for partners to sponsor water points, colour stations, and family entertainment. Businesses that sponsor the official staff and volunteer t-shirts will have the opportunity to display their logos on the clothing. While a local DJ has already volunteered equipment and time, additional live music acts or lucky draw prizes are welcome.
Hands-on assistance is also required on the day. Volunteers can register to help with:
