Dominant Women Boks Complete Historic 2-0 Series Sweep Over Fijiana

Combining raw forward power with lethal finishing out wide, the South Africans showed both clinical dominance and grit under pressure to assert their authority in the Pacific.

Dominant Forwards Set the Tone in Suva

The opening Test on 08 August set a high benchmark as the Springbok Women overwhelmed the Fijiana 55-12 in rainy conditions in Suva. South Africa’s forward pack dictated terms from the opening whistle, using dominant scrums, relentless pick-and-drives, and clever tap-penalty moves to tear open the Fijian defense.

Loosehead prop Xoliswa Khuzwayo crossed for a brace, supported by tries from Nombuyekezo Mdliki, Lindelwa Gwala, Vainah Ubisi, Sizo Solontsi, and substitute Sinelitha Noxeke. With the forwards laying a platform, the backline added flair through tries from Maceala Samboya and Byrhandré Dolf, who also contributed heavily with the boot. Fiji replied with tries from Varanaise Qoro and Adi Vani Buleki, but a red card to Alfreda Fisher extinguished any hope of a comeback as the Boks ran in nine tries.

Tshiremba’s Debut Hat-Trick Seals the Sweep

The second Test on 15 August in Lautoka proved to be a far tougher test. A rejuvenated Fijiana team came out firing, using high-risk offloading and early momentum to lead 10-5 at halftime following tries from Atelaite Buna and Adi Vani Buleki. South Africa's discipline was tested severely when Zintle Mpupha and Anacadia Minnaar were yellow-carded in quick succession, leaving the visitors down to 13 players. However, an heroic defensive effort ensured no points were conceded during the numerical disadvantage.

The second half belonged to debutant wing Maria Tshiremba, whose explosive pace turned the match on its head. Tshiremba scored a sensational second-half hat-trick, finishing off slick backline movements and capitalizing on positional errors. Further efforts from Gwala and Ubisi kept the scoreboard moving, while Fiji fought back gamely with scores from Adi Salote Nailolo and Ivamere Rokowati. Ultimately, Tshiremba's 78th-minute strike sealed a hard-fought 29-22 victory, securing a historic series triumph and taking South Africa to six wins in their last seven Test matches.
