Our Eyes in the Field: Potchefstroom
From high-end dental upgrades and festival countdowns to major corporate social investments, the Potchefstroom beat delivered incredible news for every corner of our community.

August 11: Top-Tier Dental Care & Opening Specials at BrightSmiles Dental Studio

We opened our field coverage on Tuesday with fantastic health news for the entire family. The doors are officially open, and the team at BrightSmiles Dental Studio is ready to keep Potchefstroom smiling bright!

Located at West Acres Centre (conveniently situated right above Zigmart), Dr. Azraa Bhagalia and her friendly, professional team have brought a modern, warm, and top-tier dental practice to our community, catering to patients of all ages.

August 12: First-Time Geesfees Magic – Catching Up with Tiaan

On Wednesday, festival anticipation took over. The build-up to Potch Geesfees 2026 is reaching fever pitch, and The Go-To Guy sat down for a lighthearted chat with local resident Tiaan to hear a fresh perspective.

Despite living in town, 2026 marks the very first year Tiaan is attending the massive festival at Lekwena Wildlife Estate! We chatted about what finally convinced him to make the leap, which music acts and agri-exhibits he is most excited to see, and why every resident who hasn't secured their pass yet needs to grab one immediately.

August 14: Mobile Freedom for Our Seniors – Agreenco & Community Sponsor a New Bus!

Friday brought one of the most heartwarming, impactful community milestones of the entire winter season. The beloved seniors and hardworking staff at the Potchefstroom Service Centre for the Elderly (Dienssentrum vir Bejaardes) received an incredible gift that will change their daily lives.

Local corporate champions Agreenco once again stepped up as true community heroes—joining hands with generous, private contributions from the Potchefstroom community—to sponsor a brand-new, spacious, and practical minibus van for the centre!

This new set of wheels addresses critical operational needs for our seniors:

Our elderly residents are the foundation of our community, and this collaborative sponsorship proves once again what can be achieved when local businesses and caring citizens unite for a common purpose.

Potch Geesfees: The Great Ticket Hunt!
August 14 & 15: WE HAVE OUR SECOND WINNER!
The excitement surrounding our collaborative Potch Geesfees Ticket Treasure Hunt reached a blazing high this weekend!

After dropping video clues across our social platforms, our local sleuths hit the pavement in record time. Huge congratulations go out to our second official treasure hunt winner, who decoded the clues and tracked down the hidden weekend pass vouchers on Friday! He and his partner are officially heading to Potch Geesfees on 28 & 29 August at Lekwena Wildlife Estate completely FREE of charge!

A massive thank you to the Potch Geesfees organizers for partnering with us to bring this high-energy hunt to our followers.

Our Eyes in the Field: Promosa & Ikageng

August 14: Shaping the Future of Township Arts – The CAC Impact Assessment at Promosa Secondary

Over in Promosa and Ikageng, Friday was defined by vital cultural development and grassroots youth advocacy. The Go-To Guy team joined the Community Arts Centers (CAC) delegation during their official visit to Promosa Secondary School.

The primary focus of this high-level meeting was to table and unpack the Impact Assessment Report on Community Arts Centres in the North West Province:

We want to hear from our community! What do you believe our local township artists, musicians, and performers need most right now to take their craft to the next level? Drop your thoughts in the comments on our video feature!

Final Thoughts on Week 33

From modern healthcare additions at West Acres and transformative transport solutions for our seniors to high-stakes festival giveaways and grassroots arts advocacy in Promosa, Week 33 highlighted the deep unity and vibrancy defining our municipality.

With Potch Geesfees (28 & 29 August) just around the corner, the energy in town is electric. Keep your eyes on our page for upcoming video features, final treasure hunt updates, and local spotlights. Stay safe, support local businesses, and let's keep building a stronger community together!
