Eskom Maintenance Triggers Scheduled Power Outage for Parts of Ikageng
The JB Marks Local Municipality has issued a public notice warning residents in the Tlokwe Region to prepare for a planned electricity outage scheduled for Thursday, 11 June 2026.
The interruption is required by power utility Eskom to conduct essential maintenance work on Transformer No. 1 at the Ikageng Main Substation. According to the municipality, the scope of work involves topping up the transformer oil to maintain the long-term reliability and efficiency of the local electricity supply network.

Affected Areas and Expected Duration
The outage will impact the entirety of Old Ikageng (Ikageng Proper) as well as certain sections of the Ikageng Extensions.
While Eskom has not yet finalized the exact commencement and restoration times, the municipality has advised residents to prepare for a possible interruption lasting from 06h00 to 18h00 on the day.
Areas NOT Affected
Fortunately, several neighborhoods will escape the blackout. Residents supplied by the Ikageng West Substation (located along Sarafina Road) will not experience disruptions. The unaffected areas include:
Extension 13 (Zakhele)
Extension 3
Extension 6 (including areas near Portia’s Inn)
Areas around Phola Park
Funani
Naledi School and its surrounding areas
Safety and Precautionary Measures
The local municipality has urged residents to treat all electrical installations and appliances as live at all times during the maintenance window, as power could be restored earlier than anticipated.
